MARQUETTE COUNTY -- A reminder that the way you clear the snow on your property greatly impacts the safety of those around you.

Snow piled at the end of driveways or pushed across the road causes sight obstructions and can create icy areas.

This also makes it difficult for the plows to effectively and safely maneuver the roads.

"As big as the plow trucks are, when they hit that snow, it wants to send the plow to the left," said Marquette County Road Commission Superintendant Mike Harrington.  "Either jarring, causing injury to our drivers and damage to our trucks.  The trucks can be repaired, but we don't want to see any harm come to our driver."

The Marquette County Road Commission says they issue a written or verbal warning to properties not obeying Michigan law and then will send the Michigan State Police to respond to the problem.
