ESCANABA -- OSF St. Francis Hospital welcomed its first baby of the new year.  Her name is Annalisa May Heitz, and even though she's only two days old, she's already a celebrity.

Annalisa is the second baby born in the U.P. this year.  She was born at 5:22 a.m. on January 1 and is the sixth child for parents Robert and Jessica Heitz of Escanaba.

According to her parents, the baby arrived right on time.

Lanna Scannell, Public Relations Director for the St. Francis Hospital, said the staff was very excited to welcome the first baby of 2011.

"You know, we always kind of look forward to the first baby of the year," said Scannell.  "We kind of wonder, will she be born on New Year's Day, or will she come a little later.  So it's very fun when they arrive and just a little extra added attention, I guess."

The first baby born in the U.P. this year was Isabella Alexandra Kirby of Iron Mountain.  She arrived at 2:47 a.m. on New Year's Day.
