IRON MOUNTAIN -- This time last year, the new year was dominated by the breakout of the H1N1 flu virus. But so far this year, the flu season has been quiet throughout Dickinson and Iron Counties.
Flu season generally hits its peak in February and March, and health officials suspect that could be the case this year.
This year's flu shot also protects against the H1N1 flu virus.
The Dickinson-Iron District Health Department says everyone should get a flu shot, and it's definitely not too late.
"People are very aware of influenza, particularly, probably because of last year. However, we still have some folks who still need their flu shots, and I think sometimes when you don't hear about it in the community, you may forget to get your shot," said DISHD Health Service Director, Joyce Ziegler.
If you're interested in getting a flu shot, contact your doctor or your local health department.
