Many of the kids just use sneakers
HARVEY -- Soon, Teaching Family Homes will have an ice rink, and now they just need ice skates.
It's been a tradition for the past few years for the organization that supports abused or neglected kids and their families to make an ice rink in a clearing on their property.
There are no skates available, and many of the kids have just used their sneakers on the ice in the past.
Ice activities are huge for the age group at Teaching Family Homes, and they say they'd like to learn to play hockey and broomball.
"It costs money to be able to go to different places and rent skates or to go use the facility," says Teaching Family Homes Public Relations, Kristina Balzarini. "As a nonprofit, we don't always have the extra money to be able to do that."
"For them to be able to have something right here in their background to be able to use and socialize with the other kids, is really important. Something they really look forward to."
Skates in adult sizes 7-12 are needed. To donate, click here.
