MARQUETTE -- The local media have been long considered the watchdogs of the community, but at Monday's Economic Club of Marquette meeting, they're also being acknowledged as major contributors to the U.P.'s economy.
Four members of the local media, including TV6's CEO Rob Jamros, were keynote speakers at the Economic Club of Marquette meeting.
They say local media have a huge impact on the local economy, donating about $10 million worth of resources and employing 1,200 workers.
"Just about everything we do impacts the local economy. Of course, we all know how people can be motivated by the news one way or the other we report the news; however, people are motivated one way or another based on their perceptions of what they hear," said Jamros.
The Economic Club meeting took place at the Ramada Inn.
