IRON MOUNTAIN -- A local school in Iron Mountain is doing their part to help families this holiday season.
The first grade class at Bishop Baraga Catholic School had its students raise money by doing chores for their parents. The kids then brought back the money they earned and went shopping to buy canned goods for less fortunate families.
Overall, the kids were happy to do the chores to help out those in need.
"I fed my kitties, I kept my room clean, I played with my kitties, I made my bed," said one student.
"Makes me feel good to help people that are in need. They don't really get lots of food," said a fellow student.
"So it's important you can help them out to get that food?" asked the reporter.
"Yeah," the student replied.
Overall, the entire school raised more than $1,300 to donate to local families this holiday season.
