HOUGHTON -- Firefighters have cleared the scene of a gas scare at Michigan Tech.

Houghton City firefighters and a representative from SEMCO Energy responded to a report of a strong natural gas odor in the Chemical Sciences and Engineering building.

Authorities arrived around 10:30 Tuesday morning and checked the building's fourth floor where they learned several gas sources had already been shut off.

The building was cleared shortly after.

Classes are continuing as usual.
