Although the Ishpeming Hematites football team wasn't able to pull off a win downstate Saturday, there's no disputing the fact that they still had a great season

ISHPEMING -- Sunday, the Ishpeming Hematites football team and coaches were honored for their efforts with a special reception with family members and fans.

The team was on hand to show off their new trophies and talk about the past season.

Coaches also spoke about the struggles they faced on the road to the state final.

And while everyone is disappointed they didn't win, family members are still proud of what their sons accomplished.

"They did great," says parent Mark Olgren.  "We watched all the games.  My son was on the JV games throughout the season, but I went to all the varsity games.  I compared them a lot to my season.  We had a defensive team that year, too, but they had their own team.  They did a great job!"

The Hematites are hoping to have as much success in next year's season.
