MARQUETTE -- There's an update on the drawn out battle to have a Marquette orphanage fixed up.

According to officials with the City of Marquette, a small step was taken last week.  The contractor hired by owner Roger Rinne did a walk-through of the Marquette orphanage.  At this time, though, repair work has not been started.

Since the judge set November 18 as the deadline to begin repairs, Marquette City Attorney Ron Keefe is under the impression that fines are being assessed against Rinne.  That means $100 a day for every day that repairs are not being done on top of the $6,038 in fines he already owes.

These fines will constitute as a lien against the property to ensure they will be paid.
