MARQUETTE -- The Compound Ski Shop in Marquette is giving skiers a chance to trade in those old skis they might have laying around, toward some new ones.
Every year the shop holds its "Credit 4 Clunkers" after the Marquette Mountain Ski Swap.
The store will take your old skis and equipment and give you store credit toward a new pair. The old skis are turned into furniture, or if they are in good condition, they will be donated to the Chatham Ski Area.
The shop may not be able to offer top dollar, but they say it will help families with growing skiers.
"It's a tough justification for a parent to spend $500 or more on a ski package, so if I can give them $50 for an old pair of skis, they can feel like they've accomplished something," said Compound owner, Brandon Croney.
The shop will be accepting clunker skis and equipment until Christmas.
