MARQUETTE -- The Applebees restaurant in Marquette did their part to make sure they honored veterans Thursday afternoon. This is the third year the chain has held the event which provided free meals to veterans.
Seven menu choices were available for free including Fiesta Lime Chicken, salad, and seafood.
The staff was ready to handle a big crowd. They even had to open an hour earlier to make sure everyone could be served, and early in the day, they weren't disappointed.
"It's been very great overall so far," said Manager Bryan Lopac. "We opened up a little early to get it going and just phone calls ringing all day the past few weeks to get the word out there for it. It's been a great response so far, and I hope to keep it going all day long here for it."
The free food for veterans will continue until the restaurant closes at 11 p.m. on Thursday.
