According to the Associated Press, Rick Snyder has been confirned the next Governor of Michigan.

Votes are being counted in Michigan's first wide open race for governor in eight years.
Republican nominee and front-runner Rick Snyder is leading Democratic opponent Lansing Mayor Virg Bernero in early returns.
Snyder has 62 percent to Bernero's 35 percent with 5 percent of the precincts reporting.
Three third-party candidates also are running. Tuesday marks the first gubernatorial race since 2002 with no incumbent and the first since the Michigan economy was rocked by the near-collapse of two automakers.

The only full results so far in the U.P. come from Luce County, where residents voted almost 66 percent for Rick Snyder and only 31 percent for Democrat Virg Bernero.

The race between Dan Benishek and Gary McDowell is off to a heated start, according to the Associated Press.
Benishek is off to an early lead with 11 of 505 precincts reporting.

Only two precincts of the 5,333 in Michigan are reporting right now, but signs show Rick Snyder off to a good start.
According to the Associated Press, the breakdown of votes looks to be in Snyder's favor.
