MARQUETTE -- Though some of us may have forgotten about U.S. soldiers around the world, Great Lakes Recovery Centers is sponsoring an initiative to support those soldiers.

It's called Great Giving and provides residents a chance to send items in care packages to soldiers from the U.P. deployed around the world.

Items needed are books, movies, cards or letters of support, or anything to remind soldiers of the U.P.

Organizers also need specific names of soldiers to send the care packages to.

"This would be our small way of telling them thank you, that you are our heroes and we think about you and we love you and we support you," said Michelle DeMitchell of Great Lakes Recovery Centers.

The care packages will be assembled at the Marquette Armory November 30.  If you would like to help, you can contact Michelle DeMitchell at Great Lakes Recovery Centers.
