LITTLE LAKE -- Even though the recent severe winds have calmed down, crews for UPPCO are still hard at work repairing downed electrical lines and restoring power to residents.

UPPCO reports that there are still over 2,000 households without power, mostly in the Ishpeming area.

The power company hired contract crews from as far as Iowa and Indiana to assist local crews to repair lines.  They stress that safety of residents and crew members are their first priority.

"Halloween's coming, kids are going to be all over the place, if you see downed power lines, call your local utility, call UPPCO, call whoever else you have, so they can get out there and fix it," said UPPCO Vice President Keith Moyle.

With their current progress, UPPCO estimates to have the majority of power restored by Friday afternoon.
