NEGAUNEE -- With Halloween just a week away, holiday parties and dances are popping up all over the U.P.

On Sunday, seniors in the Negaunee area celebrated the spooky holiday with a Halloween dance.

The afternoon featured live music provided by the Hart Beats, as well as raffles, prizes, and food, and since it was a Halloween dance, costumes were encouraged.

"Costumes are if you want.  You don't have to.  A lot of people aren't into that.  And of course I guess I'm crazy enough to do it.  People didn't even know who I was," said Mary Parkkonen, a member of the dance committee.

The Senior Center hosts dances every two months.

They plan to have their next one in January.
