Manistique dredging raises concerns

MANISTIQUE -- Some Manistique residents are concerned that sediment being dredged from the harbor might be contaminated.

City officials say the sediment is being disposed of in a gravel pit off Lake Side Road.

Officials with the Army Corps of Engineers say there is nothing to worry about.

This means the city will be able to reuse the material in the future.

The $2 million project is expected to take about 45 days to complete and is funded through the Army Corps of Engineers.
