Lemonade Run/Walk in Marquette

After four-year-old Alex Scott of Manchester, Connecticut was diagnosed with cancer, she decided to raise money towards finding a cure by setting up a lemonade stand, and now events are held all over the country for the cause.

Northern Michigan University students will continue their tradition of the Lemon Run/Walk at the end of October.

Last year the students were able to raise more than $2,000.  This year's event will be held at the Superior Dome on October 24, beginning at 1 p.m.

Organizers hope the walk will spread awareness of pediatric cancer.

"Cancer is the most deadly cause for kids under 15 years of age, and it just can't happen anymore," said Meghan Connell, Lemon Run/Walk organizer.  "I've seen too many kids pass away by it or that have been affected by it.  Just seeing a little coffin is probably the worst thing in the world."
