Homecoming parade Friday
MARQUETTE -- It's homecoming week for Marquette Senior High School, and for some students that means time to build a float.
Students gathered at the Marquette bus garage Monday afternoon to begin construction on the floats. Every year there's a different theme, and this year's is superheroes.
The floats are constructed out of paper products, usually napkins, along with glue, wire, and wood. Students work on the floats from 3 to 8 p.m., Monday through Thursday, to get them ready for the homecoming parade.
Organizers say this is a great way to raise school spirit.
"We're doing really good with the football team, so a lot of people want to come out and support our school. We've been going through the classes the past week and just kind of getting them pumped up for homecoming; a lot of people are coming out to support the high school," said Student Council Representative, Kimber Guidebeck.
The floats can be seen in the homecoming parade this Friday at 5:30 p.m.
