DELTA COUNTY -- The Squaw Creek Bridge on Delta County Road 513 recently opened, and some of those involved in its construction were on hand Thursday to discuss it.
The project relied on the partnership of several Delta County agencies, including the forest service, road commission, and five local engineering firms.
The project was completed in three phases, the first of which started in May, with the final being the reconstruction of the bridge.
Those involved in the project say the bridge and the road serve a dual purpose.
"This road, it's a designated county road; it's also a designated forest highway for the national forest system, so it serves both the Hiawatha National Forest and the residents of Delta County," said Bill Bowman from the U.S. Forest Service.
The project cost just under $300,000 and was one of many projects funded by federal stimulus funds.
