Negaunee City Fire Department did the teaching

Close to 70 children from Lakeview Elementary and daycares in the Negaunee area took part in fire prevention activities at the city fire hall.

Volunteer firefighter and TV6 News Anchor Steve Asplund showed the children different tools firemen use, like an infrared camera.

The kids also got to try on firefighter gear including jackets and helmets.

The goal of the day was to make sure the children know what to do in case of a fire--not to hide, but to get out of the burning building and not to be afraid of firemen.
