It will close Thursday and reopen Tuesday

MARQUETTE -- The YMCA of Marquette County will be closing its doors starting Thursday...but just temporarily.

They'll be taking the Labor Day weekend to perform general maintenance to the building.  While the pool closed one day early, the rest of the building won't close until Thursday.

Officials say this time is the best time for the closure since it typically is one of the slowest weekends of the year.  And although it might be a slight inconvenience to members, the difference will be noticeable when it reopens.

"We start out with a top to bottom clean.  Then we work on the floors, paint, finish on the floors in the gym and the group exercise room, the pool, the sauna, the whirlpool.  Basically we get a little dirty so the Y can get clean," says Maintenance Director Tim Olmsted.

The YMCA will reopen on Tuesday, September 7.
