Gas leak causes evacuations in Ironwood

IRONWOOD -- Ironwood residents are back home tonight after a natural gas line break.

Seventy-five homeowners and a day care with 40 children had to evacuate the area of the break at Lake and Celia Streets.  Those evacuated were taken to the Memorial Building.

Ironwood Public Safety says a construction crew hit the four-inch line, rupturing it.

Gas service was interrupted to 300 homes, and the power was out for an hour.

Xcel Energy is repairing the line, and service is being restored.
