Child and Family Services benefits
MARQUETTE -- Jessica and Company in Marquette was giving free haircuts Friday afternoon.
The salon donated certificates for 25 free haircuts to Child and Family services, who gave them away at a carnival held a few months ago. Friday was the day to redeem the certificates.
The salon also had a bake sale and lemonade stand to help celebrate.
The haircuts are to help kids get ready for school.
"For kids it's really great to have a haircut--a fresh haircut to go to school, see their friends on the first day and feel good about themselves. Sometimes some of our families cannot afford to get haircuts, even when they are reasonable, so it's really good to give them that opportunity," said Norma Semashko of Child and Family Services.
All money raised by the bake sale went to Child and Family Services to help them buy school supplies for children of low income families.
