This is the 27th year for the event

MARQUETTE -- Shrimp, trout, whitefish, and of course, crab legs.  That's what you'll find if you head down to Lower Harbor this weekend for the 27th annual Seafood Fest.  It's put on each year by the Marquette West Rotary, with all of the proceeds going towards a good cause.

"This is our main fund-raiser for the year.  So far in the last 27 years, we've donated back about $480,000 to the community.  We support all kinds of different organizations...say Big Brothers/Big Sisters, the YMCA, the Harbor House, the Red Cross," explains co-chair Christine Pesola.

But this year's festival did have some changes.  Live lobsters will be flown in tomorrow and on the menu for the rest of the weekend.  And Vango's has set up a tent of food for the landlubbers which includes pizza, hamburgers, and cheese sticks.

While it was still early in the day, they were pleased with their sales.

"It's been really good so far.  We're happy so far with the crowd.  It's early on, but the weather is nice and hopefully we'll have a great weekend," describes Vango's owner Jon Christensen.

Many area residents come to the seafood festival each year, and they're always sure to bring their appetites to try lots of food.

"Right now I'm working on some shrimp.  I had an ear of corn and some french fries, and I'm about to eat my baked potato," said Deborah Messenger of Marysville.

But food isn't the only thing you'll find at the festival.  There's plenty of activities for kids and live music each night.

The Seafood Fest continues Friday from 4 until 10 p.m. and then again on Saturday from noon until 10 p.m. in Lower Harbor Park.
