MARQUETTE -- The Upper Peninsula Children's Coalition hosted another session in its series of free "Afternoon Coffee Breaks" at the Peter White Public Library.

The coalition serves families in the U.P., and its coffee breaks educate health care and child service representatives on a range of political issues that impact the U.P.

At Thursday's coffee break, a representative from MichUCAN led the meeting, explaining the new health care legislation.

"I think it's an important topic because we found through some polling that people are reacting to politically-biased rhetoric about the affordable health care act rather than its substance, and I believe it's important for people to know what that act actually contains," said MichUCAN Representative, Valerie Przywara.

Next up for the U.P. Children's Coalition will be their candidate forum, October 14.
