Retired veteran builds UFO
DELTA COUNTY -- There are some mysterious lights coming from the grass fields along M-35 in Perkins, but don't worry, it's not a UFO.
William Nelson, a recently retired veteran in Perkins, decided he wanted to spice up his property with a unique lawn ornament--a 10-foot diameter mock spaceship.
The "ship," which took about two years to build, is made of recycled satellite dishes. It's run entirely on a solar timer and lights up at night.
The owner says it seemed like something fun to do, and it's already drawn some attention from motorists.
"They stop along the highway there and look at it and line up and wait for it to come on. It's a novelty, you know? A yard ornament," said Nelson.
He says the "ship" usually lights up about 9 p.m.
