Faces up to five years in prison

HOUGHTON -- A plea hearing for the Laurium woman accused of trying to smuggle drugs into the Houghton County jail was held on Wednesday.

Jamie Kay Plowe, 56, pled guilty to furnishing contraband to her son who was an inmate at the jail last January.  Plowe admitted to hiding the drugs Ambien and Adavan in the seam of a t-shirt.

In return for her plea, the prosecution made no recommendation to the judge regarding her sentence.

Plowe will return to jail to await sentencing.

She faces up to five years.
