They will be hiring
ESCANABA -- There was good news for the Escanaba School District Monday night.
The budget outlook is much better than expected, and no cuts will have to be made for the upcoming school year. Also, there will be no layoffs.
In fact Superintendent Michele Burley says they'll be hiring.
One major factor is that the district learned it's eligible to receive $600,000 in federal stimulus money.
Also, Escanaba had several staff members retire to take advantage of the new state retirement incentive.
