Want to move from farm to the Capitol
ESCANABA -- A lifelong dairy farmer from Dickinson County is considering leaving the farm for the State House of Representatives.
Tuesday, Republican candidate Ed McBroom formally announced his candidacy for the 108th District.
McBroom has an education degree from NMU, but has been in the farming business his entire life.
He hopes to make the state more efficient, utilize its natural resources, and reduce the number of state regulations, which he feels has hindered business growth.
"We have a great opportunity with mining and logging and farming to bring Michigan not only back to its roots, but back to its prosperity, and I think those are the true areas where wealthy generation begins," said McBroom.
Escanaba wasn't McBrooms only stop in the district. He also made a stop in Menominee as well as Iron Mountain.
