HOUGHTON -- The Houghton Police Department handed out more than a dozen tickets Thursday for people failing to use a seatbelt.
The city police have been working with the state police for the past two weeks, setting up specific seatbelt enforcement zones and ticketing drivers who aren't buckled up.
Thursday afternoon the officers were checking cars on M-26 and Montezuma Avenue.
Even with signs posted to notify traffic of the enforcement zone, 16 drivers received a $65 fine for not wearing their seatbelt.
