MARQUETTE -- For almost 30 years, Family Video rental stores have been giving free movies to students who take home A marks on their report cards.

The store in Marquette will give away one free rental for each A throughout the entire month of June.  The grade has to be in core subjects, like geography, math, reading, and science.

Movies must be 30 days past their release date.

Students can rent video games, too.  The hope is that the reward will give students incentive to study harder.

"It just shows another way that we're involved with the community.  We do a lot of different things all year long to stay involved, but a report card is just a way for us to reward millions of students for their academic excellence," said Barb Laynaugh, store manager.

Last year, nationwide, they gave away over two million dollars in rentals.  They are certain they will exceed that number this year.
