MARQUETTE -- The warm weather we've been having is getting a lot of people thinking about summer. And the city of Marquette is looking for lifeguards to watch some of the beaches this summer.
Most of the beaches are unguarded, except for McCarty's Cove and South Beach.
The city usually hires ten to twelve people to cover those beaches from 12 to 8 p.m. everyday, from Memorial Day to Labor Day.
Head lifeguard Mike Vallin says, "We do that for families or anybody who may not be completely comfortable swimming alone in Lake Superior, they can come down here to the guarded beaches and have a supervised, safe place to swim."
Applicants must be American Red Cross ceritified.
If you're interested in applying, you can go to either Marquette City Hall or the Parks and Recreation Department offices at Lakeview Arena.
