Students only have a few more days to finalize their hybrid design
HOUGHTON -- The EcoCar Team at Michigan Tech has until the end of the week to finish work on their hybrid vehicle.
On Monday, the team was going through a final inspection of their high voltage battery to make sure it was secure and likely to stay in place in case of a crash. Other team members were working on the exterior, removing decals to make room for their school name and number.
They only have a few days left to put the car back together and prepare it to ship.
“I feel proud of our team and what we've accomplished in such short a time with such limited resources,” says mechanical team member, Seth Taylor. “I don't think anyone could do a better job.”
Tech is one of 17 schools from across the United States and Canada participating in the three-year competition.
In May, their vehicle will be tested on emissions, drivability, and customer appeal.
