Lakeshore in Marquette between Wright and Hawley
MARQUETTE -- The orange barrels are out along Lakeshore Boulevard in Marquette.
Work is being done from Wright Street to Hawley Street, causing intermittent road closures.
Surface conditions have deteriorated over the past few years because of drainage problems.
The street was open to traffic Monday, but according to Scott Cambensy of Marquette Public Works, these closures will probably be off and on all summer.
"By mid week, it'll be regraded and dried up a little bit here if we don't get any heavy rain, and it's just going to kind of be the pattern. We'll keep it open as much as we can, and when it gets too rough, we're going to have to close it down and do some maintenance on it," said Cambensy.
The long-term plan is to move that section of Lakeshore Boulevard farther away from the lake; no timeline on that happening just yet.
