MARQUETTE -- The Marquette County Substance Abuse and Violence Coalitions' mission is to get the community's help in the prevention of violence associated with drugs.

Tuesday in Marquette, professionals from the medical, pharmaceutical, and clergy fields got a look at a video put together by the coalition.  The video has professionals speaking about their experiences with prescription drug addiction.

It's meant to educate the community about the growing problem of prescription drug addiction in the Marquette area.

"Big time, big time problem.  Alcohol and prescription drugs are (number) one and two--neck and neck.  And, people many times interchange and have both of them as problems, and so it's more difficult to manage these individuals when they're trying to detox and get them off these drugs safely," said John Lehtinen, Addiction Medicine, MGHS.
