MARQUETTE -- It looks as though Marquette will soon have a new City Manager.

William Vajda (vie-da) of Rockville, Maryland has accepted the job that was offered to him Wednesday by the city commission.

The city still has to complete a background check, and he and the city will have to work out details of the contract.  It's estimated that may take a week or two.

Vajda's predecessor, Judy Akkala, was paid $106,000 a year plus benefits.

Vajda was born and raised in Marquette and has federal experience with the Departments of Defense and Education.
