Marquette Senior High School's penny war and they're proving that doing a good thing can be fun
MARQUETTE -- The fundraising for Haiti continues with Marquette Senior High School's penny war and they're proving that doing a good thing can be fun.
To provide incentive, government teacher Greg Seppanen promised his fourth period advisory students that if they won the penny war, he would jump into the pool wearing a woman's dress.
When student David Gilbert brought in $50 in pennies, they won and Mr. Seppanen kept his promise.
"It was really nice. Again, the kids did a good job--the whole activity is very serious in trying to raise money for the tragedy that happened over there--a little fun at the end of the activity is a good thing and I have no problem being part of that fun," said Greg Seppanen, MHS Teacher.
Twenty advisory classes raised about $1,400 to donate to Haiti relief and participants showed up to watch Mr. Seppanen jump in the pool.
