Tax season is here, and if you're not sending your taxes to an accountant, the forms can get overwhelming.

MARQUETTE -- Tax season is here, and if you're not sending your taxes to an accountant, the forms can get overwhelming.  That's why the Senior Center in Marquette is doing their part to help.

The program, which is part of the A.A.R.P. Tax-Aide, provides tax help to senior citizens and low income individuals.  Trained volunteers will help in processing information and filing taxes.

It's in its fifth year and is free of charge and runs through March on every Monday and Wednesday.

Officials say the program provides an essential service to Marquette Township seniors.

A.A.R.P. Tax-Aide, Janet Olgren said, "Well, sometimes they get money that they didn't realize they were going to get back, and most of them are just happy to have their taxes done and done and out of the way and don't have to think about it anymore."

You can make an appointment by calling the Senior Center at (906) 228-0456.
