High winds and blowing snow cause dangerous driving conditions.
NEGAUNEE -- As the snow continues to fall throughout the Upper Peninsula causing traffic delays and school closings, there is still another three to five inches expected Tuesday.
In Negaunee, the National Weather Service has reported eight inches in the past 24 hours, while Marquette and Alger Counties have three to five inches. High winds and blowing snow are causing high drifts in some areas and another three to five inches is expected.
"This is about as bad as it's going to get, but the wind and snow will continue until mid-afternoon Tuesday, especially in the central highlands," said TV6 Meteorologist Phil DeCastro. "With the winds as strong as they are, we are seeing snow in Escanaba, and the heaviest snow will shift west this evening."
Officials urge motorists to use caution, and travel conditions may be dangerous.
