It's been going on for about 20 years.

NEGAUNEE -- Students at Lakeview Elementary School  in Negaunee took a break from the books today.

The annual Friendship Festival has been going on at the school for about 20 years.  This year's theme was "An Under the Sea Adventure."  Students of all ages enjoyed a variety of carnival-style games including golf, a fish pond, basketball, jewelry making, and tattoos.

Parents and student volunteers led the activities and hoped the kids would have a good time.

"I hope that they learn that everyone is special and different.  It doesn't matter what you like or how good you play the games; that we're all unique." said student volunteer Katie Lambert.

Everyone was a winner at the festival today as prizes were given away at every booth.
