New community grant money coming to U.P.

According to Congressman Bart Stupak's office, the money will be used for snow removal, public safety and increased facility usage.

UPPER PENINSULA -- Grants and loans totaling $209,000 are coming to four U.P. communities through the U.S. Department of Agriculture Community Facility grant program.

According to Congressman Bart Stupak's office, the money will be used for snow removal, public safety and increased facility usage.

Hancock picks up a $39,000 grant and a $91,000 loan for a new front-end loader with self-contained snow blower.

Fifty-thousand-dollars is going to Calumet Township for an elevator at the Calumet Coliseum.

Laurium has a $17,000 grant to buy two trucks with snow plows.

And in Menominee, the $12,000 grant will be used to buy a police utility vehicle.
