City and state police involved

HOUGHTON -- Local and State Police teamed up to crack down on drunk driving in Houghton this holiday season.

The city department had extra officers out for the New Year's weekend, thanks to funding from a Safe Communities Grant.

The money enabled them to nearly double their numbers with officers on duty specifically looking for drunk drivers.

The city has seen an improvement over the past few holidays and saw that trend continue this weekend.

Michigan State Police from the Calumet post say they didn't have any DUI arrests this holiday weekend.
