Vets benefit from radio campaign
MARQUETTE -- Two Marquette businesses did a lot of good for veterans at Jacobetti Tuesday.
Sunny 101.9 and Bio Life have been collecting items since earlier this month and they hand delivered them.
The items included sweatpants, toiletries, and blankets donated by listeners and patrons of Bio Life.
This was the first year of the program and they'll be doing it again next year.
"With the V.A. taking budget cuts like everyone else, it's getting harder and harder, and talk about people who deserve, you know, to be treated right and to be remembered especially at this time of year, so it was a combination of gifts and things that they need, but more than anything else for us in the radio side of things, it was an awareness campaign. There were a lot of people out there that responded to this that really had no idea just how simple their needs really were," said Sunny 101.9 morning personality, Mark Evans.
If you are interested in helping out, Bio Life and Sunny 101.9 are still accepting donations.
