The City of Manistique will be getting over $8 million through grants and loans through USDA Rural Development Funding.

MANISTIQUE -- The Manistique Water Treatment Facility will be getting a much-needed facelift by summer with the help from some recent funding from the federal government.

The city will be getting over $8 million through grants and loans through USDA Rural Development Funding.

The over 30-year-old plant will undergo technological and water treatment upgrades.

They'll also be adding some new additions to the outside of the facility.

"We're looking at about a 18 month total construction and some of it, since it's going to be new buildings outside and new tanks outside, it will be very weather dependent," said Corey Barr, Water Superintendent.

Barr says they hope to have a shovel in ground by late next summer.
