ESCANABA -- It's not your typical performance of the classic motion picture, "It's a Wonderful Life." Players de Noc in Escanaba is gearing up for their 5th annual Christmas Radio Show at the Bonifas Art Center Thursday evening.
Tuesday night, the actors practiced for their upcoming radio performance. There are over 20 actors of all ages taking part this year, and they say if you enjoyed the motion picture, you'll enjoy this performance just as much.
"The way we're doing it harkens back to the way radio programs were done back in the '30s and '40s and that is with a live audience," explained Jim Soderberg, playing Joseph, the head angel. "They get an opportunity to see a face along with the voice, and they don't always match up. It's also kind of neat to see how the sounds effects are done."
The reason they're doing "It's a Wonderful Life" again this year is due to its continuing popularity.
"We have chosen to do a couple other scripts in the past, but "It's a Wonderful Life" seems to be the most popular of the scripts that we do," said Director, Kathy Leduc. "It's very friendly, well-known, and it's a very uplifting message for the season."
You can listen to the show at 8 p.m. Thursday on Mix 106. But if you want to watch it live at the Bonifas Art Center, the show is also open to the public.
Donations will be collected this year to help the families of the 14th Street fires.
