MARQUETTE -- The first novel H1N1 vaccine clinic for health care workers not employed at Marquette General or Bell Hospital was held Thursday at the Peninsula Medical Center in Marquette.

Around 120 dental nurses, hygienists and dentists, along with nursing home aides and doctors and nurses in private practice lined up for the shot.

So far, the health department has administered 2,875 H1N1 vaccines in Marquette County and distributed 3,700 more to local providers to administer.

"It's very convenient," said Melissa Hall of the Medical Care Access Coalition.  "There's hundreds of providers in the building and surrounding area, so they don't necessarily have to go out to the health department to obtain those vaccines."

The health department is also taking appointments for children who need their second dose of the H1N1 vaccine.
