High demand leads to ammunition shortage.
MARQUETTE TOWNSHIP -- During this year's firearm deer season, hunters may have a tough time finding ammo.
At Gander Mountain in Marquette Township, economically-priced ammo is harder to come by. The problem is not just hitting retailers in Upper Michigan, but at stores all across the U.S.
Managers say the problem is not due to a shortage; instead it's the way the ammo is being bought.
"There wasn't as much of a shortage of supply as there was an over demand," said Dan Webb of Gander Mountain. "I've notice people instead of buying one box like usual--three to four, even up to seven or eight boxes apiece, and that's basically why the ammo is short right now."
Webb states that boxes of premium ammo are on the shelves, and shoppers can help by buying only what they need.
