MARQUETTE -- Many of us have a loved one or a friend currently serving overseas.  Since these soldiers won't be able to be around for the holidays, the Great Lakes Recovery Centers are doing their part to make sure they still are able to celebrate.

Donations for care packages for the troops are being accepted at various locations around town.  Monetary donations can be made at the MBank in Marquette to help cover the cost of postage.  While all items are appreciated, there are some things that are needed more than others.

"The items that the soldiers are most in need of are personal hygiene items.  They also like requesting fun things that they can't get over there.  Beef jerky is a huge success.  Things like peanuts and different kinds of popcorn and things like that, that you can get in a can or a jar," explained Great Lakes Recovery Center's Marketing Director Michelle DeMitchell.

Donations will be accepted until November 30.
