Thursday night, City Manager Jim O'Toole announced that due to loss in revenue sharing through state budget cuts, the layoffs are a must.

ESCANABA -- Eight public works employees in Escanaba will be laid off over the next couple of weeks.

Thursday night, City Manager Jim O'Toole announced that due to loss in revenue sharing through state budget cuts, the layoffs are a must.

The city expects to see over $150,000 less in revenue sharing.

The layoffs will begin next week and will last two weeks.
