Beauty & Melody will perform this Friday at the Forest Roberts Theatre at NMU.
MARQUETTE -- A taste of music from 7000 miles away.
The Chinese musical group Beauty & Melody has been touring the northern Midwest for four weeks as part of the Arts Midwest World Fest.
The group of 15 professional female musicians performs traditional and contemporary Chinese music and dance.
Shigeyo Henriquez says, "Their music is from Chengdu in the Sichuan province of China, very unusual, so well-skilled, musicians who perform so beautifully and everywhere we went it has been a wonderful, great success."
Some of the group was at Superior Hills Elementary in Marquette this morning conducting a workshop.
They compared the authentic Chinese instruments to more familiar Western instruments and played different songs and instruments for the kids.
Their public concert is this Friday at the Forest Roberts Theatre at NMU.
